Harvard University, Science & Engineering Complex, Laboratory Fit Out

Allston, MA

School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) houses the departments of applied computation, bioengineering, computer science, and robotics at Harvard University. Many SEAS functions are located at a new science complex in the Allston neighborhood of Boston at 150 Western Avenue.

Ellana provided cost estimating services for the interior fit out of the offices along with wet and dry labs on the fifth floor of the Science and Engineering Complex, one of the world’s most sustainable buildings featuring wet labs. These features include advanced solar shading strategies, adaptable ventilation methods, a high-performance heat recovery system, an energy-saving air cascade system, superior insulation, air-sealing techniques, triple glazing, and renewable energy. The building was occupied during construction of the interior fit out, and stringent temporary requirements were in place for protection, dust control, and acoustical control.

Our CD estimate for this 4,000 SF project included concrete, metals, woods & plastics, finishes, doors & hardware, windows, visual display markerboards, furnishings, fire suppression, MEP, and HVAC.
