National Museum of the American Indian Americans Exhibit South Gallery

Washington, DC

The National Museum of the American Indian hosts one of the world’s most expansive collections of Native objects, photographs, and media, covering the entire Western Hemisphere from the Arctic Circle to Tierra del Fuego. Part of the Smithsonian Institution, the iconic museum occupies a prominent position on the National Mall.

Ellana provided cost estimating services for the Americans Exhibition South Gallery 3007 which opened to the public in 2018. The exhibit highlights the ways in which American Indians have been part of the nation’s identity since before the country began. The scope included five new exhibit rooms plus a Nexus space. The interior partitions were heavy gage and included extra supports to house the exhibit fabrications. A Tomahawk missile that is suspended from the ceiling required a structural cable suspension system. The MEP portion of the estimate included new distribution for the HVAC, new lighting fixtures and controls, audio visual and security.
