PANYNJ Port Authority Bus Terminal - South Wing Physical Assessment
New York, NY
Phase 1 of this assignment entailed the physical assessment of the south wing building (including the bridge connecting south and north wings). The physical assessment was all encompassing, including all major design disciplines, as well as specialty areas such as wayfinding and associated electronics.
Phase 2 involved providing a future growth impact report and recommendations to the PA, which itself included a summary of assessment criteria and assumptions that explained how the future growth figures received from the PA are used, the relationship between life-cycle replacements and future growth, and anticipated technology changes over the years. The report also included an egress and pedestrian flow analysis, explaining all assumptions, documents and codes used for calculations.
Phase 3 entailed a final report summary of the assessment criteria and assumptions. The level of required detail was for major deficiencies only, and focused on areas for which no previous inspections or reports are available. The order-of-magnitude cost estimates followed PA guidelines, stated all assumptions, calculated the cost in current dollars, considered cross-disciplinary cost, and used existing engineering reports
