HRPT Pier 40 Canopy Replacement

Built in 1962 for the Holland America Cruise Line, Pier 40 fulfills multiple functions within Hudson River Park. Pier 40 continues to serve cruise lines today primarily with its parking garage, but also provides essential public recreational functions with a large athletic field complex, mooring field, and community boating program.

More than 200,000 children and adults use the park’s fields during the year. Marvel led the design initiative to repair and renovate a 30,000 SF canopy at the popular recreation fields. The park is slated to remain open during canopy construction which will create logistics issues with staging and pedestrian safety.
