Flatlands Yards Resiliency Study
Brooklyn, NY
Ellana served as cost estimator for a resiliency study at the NYC Department of Transportation Maintenance and Repair Facility at Flatlands Yards in Brooklyn. The facility sits on the banks of the Paerdegat Basin located on the northwestern edge of Jamaica Bay between the neighborhoods of Flatlands and Canarsie.
Ellana served as cost estimator for a resiliency study led by SHoP Architects to defend the maintenance buildings against rising waters.
Our experts provided pricing for removing a concrete block wall at the edge of the site and replacing it with concrete retaining wall. City officials proposed a new parking garage for NYC DOT vehicles at Flatland Yards in addition to a new surface lot for employee parking. The study considered different designs that incorporated resilient features such as insulated quick closing doors & windows and perforated metal panels.
