Elmhurst Hospital Master Plan
Queens, NY
Elmhurst Hospital Center’s total ambulatory visits totaled more than 600,000 per year. To improve the quality and efficiency of services, a master plan was developed that reorganized the allocation of space and investigated the potential for development of new space.
The master plan aligned the hospital’s departments and consolidated services previously spread throughout different buildings on and off campus. The study focused on 1) projected future needs for ambulatory care services; 2) services that could be accommodated within existing space; 3) reorganizing the allocation of space for the projected services; 4) development of potential new space; 5) efficiencies to be gained by redistribution of existing space; 6) potential of sharing services with other institutions; and 7) development options, including projected costs.
Ellana provided cost estimating services for master planning that allows for expansion and upgrades. ROM estimates were developed for scenarios that included new hospital buildings, a new automated parking garage, renovations, and site improvements at an existing multi-level hospital.
