ELLANA provided schematic, design development, and construction document cost estimate preparation for the WTC Memorial & Museum, being built at the former location of the Twin Towers, on an as-needed basis. Services include: project estimating; cost allocation; cost evaluations of the various design options; value engineering; and cost reconciliation with the construction manager. The project comprises the memorial, designed by Michael Arad and Peter Walker, consisting of two reflecting pools ringed by plaques with the victims’ names; and a 120,000-square-foot museum, designed by Steven Davis, of Davis Brody Bond Aedas, that is sited below the pools and makes existing foundations, slurry wall, and other elements of the site a part of the museum exhibit. Work also included supporting mechanical and administrative spaces and a memorial plaza finished with architectural stone and landscaping. This 250,000sf project is designed to LEED® requirements.
